It would not be an exaggeration to call Bob Larbey a legend. His career started, in collaboration with John Esmonde, in 1966 with Room at the Bottom and he then went on to co-create one of the most successful ITV comedies ever: Please Sir!. This success continued at the BBC with The Good Life, Ever Decreasing Circles and Brush Strokes. Other classics such as A Fine Romance and As Time Goes By number amongst his solo work.
Month of Sundays is the story of two old men in a retirement home. They try to keep senility at bay by forming an escape committee (although there is nowhere to escape to) and by trying to remember the names of the 1947 Middlesex cricket team. The problem is they can only remember 10 of the 11.
This gently amusing and moving play is typical of the type of humour we have come to expect from Bob The Good Life Larbey.
